The Hadley RC Club is sponsored by and for the students of Hadley Junior High in Glen Ellyn, IL. The club provides quality rc car racing activities for the students (and I am sure the parents and teachers). Though we are a very small company we managed to donate a few items for their raffle as a means to support.

Mini E-Bike powered by 20 ACE 4500 Nimh Cells

I found this 180Watt Mini bike at an indoor flea market / antique store is sorry shape for $23.00.
The factory lead acid cells were shot, and the whole controller was fried with melted wires. So I cut out everything electrical and rewired the bike. The original motor spun and the belt drive seemed OK, so I built two 10 cell battery packs with 4500MAH ACE Nimh cells and we were good to go. A simple 50A toggle switch controls the throttle (now just ON/OFF).

The little bugger moves out ok with like 10-12 mph on the flats, while it pulls ok up inclines for such a whimpy motored EV! It is a scary ride with the tiny frame and wheels but who cares...that is what makes it fun! Besides the battery packs.....which...well I had because we sell them....total investment: $40!

Yep, we got them! EP1500mah Nimh battery packs with either Deans Ultra or stock mini plug (molex) installed! The EP 1500 cells handle up to 30A discharge rate and the 16awg flex wire flows the power!

Note that the 2x3 packs are a tight fit in the Vendetta TC, buggy, ST, and Rally....but that is an EASY fix....just remove the outer shrink wrap to remove the black plastic end caps. The cells remain secure by an inner shrink wrap and the battery fits with room to spare! The 6x1 side by side packs fit the new Duratrax 1/18th SHORT COURSE truck perfect!
